New Safety Information for High Schools

New this year AACCA has developed specific guidelines for Basketball/Indoor Courts.

AACCA Guidelines:

The following are prohibited at a basketball and other athletic contests conducted on courts, except where the area is free of obstructions and non-cheer personnel, and all skills are performed on a matted surface.

  1. Basket tosses, elevator sponge tosses, and other multi-base tosses.
  2. Partner stunts in which bases use only one arm to support the top person.
  3. Released twists into and from partner stunts.
  4. Inverted body positions into stunts.
  5. Twisting tumbling.

For more information on safety visit the AACCA website.

Explanations:

To help you better understand what they mean, on  number two AACCA says; Partner stunts in which bases uses only one arm to support the top person.  Means when performing a partner stunts you must being holding the top girl with two arms at all times.  No one arm stunts allowed.  For number three AACCA says, Released twists into and from partner stunts.  Which means cheerleaders are not allowed to do a full downs, but are allowed to do a 360 up, because the base is keeping contact with the foot throughout the stunt.  Number five says, twisting tumbling.  Means cheerleaders are not allowed to do Full/Double on a Basketball court.
